5 Safety Tips for Your Commercial Range

Look to any commercial kitchen and chances are high that you’re going to see a commercial range. Are you keeping it maintained and using it safely?

Keep it clean

Regardless of whether you’re working with a gas range or an electric one, you’re still working with hot burners.  You’ve probably seen enough people tripping and falling in the kitchen to know that you should keep the area around the stove, including the floors, clean.

Keep flammable items away

It’s not a good idea to store flammable items near the range top.  There are so many things which can go wrong, and you don’t want to fight a fire that was completely preventable.  Keep anything that doesn’t need to be there stored far away from the commercial range.

Don’t Leave It Alone

Make sure that someone’s always watching the range, whether it’s you or one of your fellow chefs.  Grease spatters and can catch fire, and you don’t want there to be a fire right on the burner.  While you’re watching, you have an opportunity to clean and prep.

Make Sure You’re Protected

I know that this sounds silly, with all of the experience that you have in the kitchen, but oven mitts, pot holders, and aprons are there for a reason. You don’t want to get burned while you’re making your masterpiece.

The commercial range that you are using is one of the most powerful pieces of equipment in your kitchen. Are you taking care of it, and staying safe?
