House-Made Mayo Leads to Salmonella Outbreak

Anytime anyone dines out, they are in danger of a foodborne illness. You’re taking your chances with all of the food you eat, really. The hope is that with measures in place like washing your food in commercial sinks and heating the food up using commercial stoves or stock pots that the viruses can be banished.

One restaurant is realizing the effects of salmonella on their customers, and they’re handling the instance in the best way that they know how. They immediately took responsibility and owned up to the instance. They also apologized to their guests, and have closed their restaurant for a prolonged period to get the bugs washed out of their system.

The restaurant was met with support from the public for taking these measures, and there are several out there who will be returning with the full belief that they won’t catch any foodborne illnesses. This is one of those cases where the public is truly behind the restaurant.

The cause of the outbreak was some of the house-made mayonnaise. We’re sure that the owners of the restaurant are going to continue to make the mayo, but we’re also sure that they’re going to take more careful measures in its creation.

When you’re creating your products for your restaurants, always make sure that you’re doing it in the most sanitary method possible. Even the most reputable restaurants can fall victim to foodborne illnesses.
