Today is the day that we celebrate one of the most wonderfully slurpy creations on the planet. October 6th is National Noodle Day! Start boiling the water in your commercial pasta makers and get out your forks because noodles are a fantastic treat for all ages.
Noodles can be made from a variety of substances, though the popular types are:
- Wheat
- Buckwheat
- Rice
Noodles can be found in dishes all around the world, from India to the United States, Japan to Indonesia. With such a range in pasta, you could have a different noodle dish every day for years.
Many modern restaurants have elevated noodle making to an art form. They make their noodles by hand, carefully rolling and cutting them for their patrons. Fresh handmade noodles are the best kind, in our opinion. You should try making some homemade noodles to celebrate the day. A basic pasta just needs high quality flour and water, and maybe a little egg depending on your recipe.
Another reason pasta is great is the wide variety of things that you can put with it. Pasta is flexible enough to accept nearly any type of protein, plus it works well with a lot of greens. It stands its ground with nearly anything that you pair with it. With the right seasonings, noodles can even taste good on their own!
For those with a commercial pasta cooker and a little bit of ambition, try making some excellent noodle dishes in celebration of National Noodle Day.
