Commercial food steamers are kitchen appliances designed to cook food using steam.

Commercial food steamers work by heating the food in a sealed container. This can be done with either water, steam or a combination. The steam will heat the food inside the container, cooking it from the inside out. These electric or gas-powered machines rapidly heat up to 212 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, which is hot enough to cook food instantly with little or no time to let the food soak in the heat. Most commercial food steamers have a capacity of up to 10 gallons. Commercial food steamers are made from stainless steel, non-stick, and aluminum. Stainless steel steamers are best for handling high temperatures, while non-stick and aluminum steamers are best for low-temperature cooking. There are three different types of commercial food steamers. The first type is a countertop food steamer. These are small and easy to store and are made to cook a few servings at a time. The second type is an immersion food steamer. These are large and can hold large amounts of food. They are made for serving staff and large crowds at a time.
