A commercial pasta cooker is designed specifically to rapidly boil water and cook pasta. There are pasta cookers and rethermalizers available that utilize either gas or electricity to heat the water. These pasta cooking machines come in a variety of sizes and cooking capacities. Some pasta cookers are full-sized floor models with more than one heating tank/compartment and others are compact and convenient countertop models. Most pasta rethermalizers utilize pasta baskets to safely hold the pasta while it is being heated and/or cooked and to easily remove it from the boiling water.
