Manitowoc SMS050A002 Undercounter Ice Cube Machine Cube-style Air-cooled
The Manitowoc SMS050A002 undercounter ice machine produces up to 53 pounds of Manitowoc's gourmet octagon ice. This unique ice measures 1-3/8" high, with a 1-3/8" diameter. Manitowoc's gourmet ice is crystal clear with few air bubbles or impurities, making this type of ice ideal for high-end "on-the-rocks" alcoholic beverages. This ice machine also houses an internal ice storage bin with a capacity of up to 25 pounds. This gourmet type of ice provides a maximum cooling effect with almost 100 percent ice to water ratio.
The SMS050A002 is designed to take up minimal space with a 22.75" x 14.75" footprint. Since the unit is only 33.5" tall, it can easily fit under most commercial counters. It can also be installed into a standard 15" wide cabinet space.
The built-in storage bin is brightly lit with efficient LEDs, so you can instantly monitor ice supplies. The large bin opening makes scooping ice easy. The ice machine door also comes with a built in ice scoop holder.
The unit houses a 1/6 HP compressor and the condenser is air-cooled. Air flow is entirely in the front of the unit, air goes in on the right and hot air exhaust goes out on the left. No side vents on this ice machine means that it can be installed in between other pieces of commercial equipment without any fear of overheating.
The body of the SMS050A002 is constructed from stainless steel and the right-hinged door can be field-converted to left-hinged during installation. An integrated water filter system makes swapping replacement water filters easy. Inside the open ice machine is a control panel mounted just above the storage bin. You can control ice making, cleaning, and sanitizing from a single location. In addition, the unit has a delay start option and the water filter replacement warning light is also located here.
The Manitowoc SMS050A002 comes factory pre-wired with a 6-foot power cord and NEMA 5-15P plug. The unit has 115 Volt, 60 Hz, 1-phase electrical specs and consumes approximately 7.0 kWh per every 100 pounds of ice it produces (at optimal 90 degree Air and 70 degree Water conditions). To make 100 pounds of ice, the SMS050A002 uses 43 gallons of water. The incoming water line measures 1/4".
Note that this unit has a 3/4" bin drain and will require either a gravity drain at the installation location or a drain pump. An optional manufacturer's drain pump can be integrated into the ice machine during installation.
This ice maker is designed for use in residential applications, office areas, break rooms, or luxury box suites. The SM50A is first ice machine with a water filter system preinstalled and it offers an industry-leading melt rate based on testing at the Manitowoc test lab on similar equipment. The ice bin is fully insulated with foamed-in-place with CFC-free foam and it operates with R-404A refrigerant.
