Medium Duty Microwave Ovens

Medium-duty microwaves are designed for commercial kitchens and restaurants. Medium-duty microwave ovens are smaller than heavy-duty microwave ovens but larger than light-duty units. They have a power range of 1000–1500 watts and have a larger cooking cavity than the low-duty models. The largest difference between a medium and low-duty model is the weight limit of each model. The low-duty model has a weight limit of 5 pounds, while the medium-duty model has a weight limit of 10 pounds. Medium-duty microwaves are often made from stainless steel, plastic, or glass. A commercial microwave may have higher insulation than a consumer model to help keep food warm for longer. Some commercial microwaves have built-in sensors that automatically adjust cooking times according to the food's quantity and density. They also often come with features such as a turntable or a carousel for rotating food during the cooking process. Some microwave oven models also have steam capabilities to cook foods with moist heat. While many microwaves are designed for commercial or industrial use, some models can be used in homes. While most microwaves are designed for a single purpose, some multi-function models are also available.
